Welcome

The United States makes up just 4% of the global population, yet we consume 2/3 of all the illegal drugs produced around the world. That’s a relatively small number of people using a very large amount of drugs. And it’s caused a crisis in this country that shows no signs of stopping.

To present it another way, there are a little more than 300,000,000 people in America, and at least 23,000,000 are drug addicts. These figures are from surveys done by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse. What’s worse, only about 3,000,000 of this country’s addicts will receive treatment for their addictions.

To our country’s credit, there are government programs to research and prevent drug addiction. Other programs fund treatment centers. Millions and millions of dollars are spent each year for drug abuse awareness and education programs. As a people, we want to help others who are in a life and death battle with addiction.

We understand the cost, in terms of the promising lives that are shattered, families torn apart, careers ruined, and the most painful of all—the terrible toll of lives lost from overdosing, accidents, and health complications (organ failures, strokes, infections and heart attacks). All of these consequences are the result of people who are using street drugs, misusing prescription medications and other drugs, or manufacturing their own in kitchen meth labs.

So how do we help? How do we make this plague go away? We do it by taking many small steps, beginning where we are.

Is there an addict in your family? You can help.
Someone you work with who’s struggling with addiction? You can help.
A classmate who’s misusing prescription drugs? You can help.
A friend’s behavior has changed suddenly, and you suspect drugs? You can help.

We all can. We can reach out to the people we can touch, and help them find help. There are Drug Rehab Treatment Centers in virtually every city in this country. For most addicts, they can’t stop any other way. They need professional, clinical help and support.

You can be the lifeline between the addict and the treatment center. If someone in your life needs help, call (800) 231-6025 for information on effective drug rehab treatment centers in your area.
